Figure skaters at many levels represented Kelowna at opposite ends of Canada last week.

Three local skaters represented Team BC and Yukon at the 2026 Skate Canada Trophy, which was held at Dartmouth, NS. The event serves as the national championships for Pre-Novice and Novice level skaters.

Kelowna’s Isabella Vigil Keller led the way with the top result for a BC/YK skater in the Novice Women’s division, as she finished 19th overall in with a total score of 100.41 points. This was Vigil Keller’s third trip to the Nationals.

Christiana Lock scored 90.6 points to finish 31st in the field of 43 skaters. This was Lock’s first trip to the Nationals, qualifying via her 3rd place finish at the BC and Yukon Sectionals in November.

At the Pre-Novice level, 14-year-old Sophie Clark scored 81.73 points to finish 31st overall in a field of 48 competitors. This was also the first trip to the Nationals for Clark.

Meanwhile, a large group of Kelowna skaters competed at the Okanagan Regionals held at Summerland, where they captured 22 medals.

Bella Aucamp led the charge with a pair of personal best skates and accompanying gold medals. Aucamp scored 28.61 points in the Pre-Novice Women’s Short Program and followed with a 54.46 score in the Free Program. She was honoured with the Yvette Delcourt Award, which is awarded to the skater with the highest score achieved at the Regionals.

Kelowna’s Abbey McTavish also won a pair of gold medals, doing so in the Star 9 Women’s Short and the Gold Women’s Free.

Olivia Waters had a personal best score of 31.46 to win the gold medal in the Juvenile Women’s division, while adding another gold in group 1 of Star 7 Women.

Kelowna’s Kaelyn Gammie also had a personal best, scoring 23.74 points to win the Star 6 Women’s event.

Mia Leong skated yet another personal best performance for the Kelowna team and scored 23.89 points to win the Pre-Juvenile Women’s division. Kara Lu finished with the bronze medal.

Kakeru Hakamata skated a Pre-Juvenile Men’s exhibition and scored a personal best 24.54 points.

Danica Linde and Rylee Krieg skated to gold and silver medals, respectively, in the Star 5 Women under 10 event.

Samantha Smith also won gold for the Kelowna club in Star 4 Women under 10, while Claire Lin did likewise in group 2 of the 13 years and over event.

Abegail Redekopp won a pair of medals, winning silver in Star 9 Women and adding a bronze in Gold Women.

Sydney Price (Pre-Novice Women’s Short), Sarah Surminsky (Star 10 Women), Irene Park (Star 8 Women), Rebekah Vader (Star 7 Women) and Madison Clark (Star 5 Women under 13) won silver medals in their respective categories.

Rounding out the medal wins for Kelowna were Claire Katsabanis (Star 5 Women 13 and over group 1), Juno Matura (Star 5 Women 13 and over group 3) and Victoria Mosquera (Star 4 Women 13 and over) with bronze medal wins.
